Bomb Threats Hit Army Delhi Public Schools and Air Force Bal Bharti

Two prominent schools in the national capital—Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan and Air Force Bal Bharti School on Lodhi Road—received bomb threat emails on Monday, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and emergency services.

According to police officials, the threats arrived via email during the morning hours, claiming that explosive devices had been planted on the campuses. Authorities acted promptly, evacuating both institutions as a safety measure while launching comprehensive searches.

A senior police officer, speaking to news agency PTI, stated that verification of the email source was underway. “So far, nothing suspicious has been found. As a precautionary measure, a thorough search operation is underway on the school premises, which has been vacated,” the officer said in reference to the Army Public School incident.

Teams from Delhi Police, including the bomb disposal squad and dog squad, along with personnel from the Delhi Fire Service, were deployed to both locations. The cyber cell has been involved to trace the origin of the emails and identify the sender.

This latest incident forms part of a disturbing pattern of similar hoax threats targeting educational institutions in Delhi and surrounding areas in recent times. Last Thursday, at least three schools—CRPF Public School and St Thomas School in Dwarka, and DAV Centenary Public School in Paschim Enclave—received comparable bomb threat emails, leading to evacuations and multi-agency checks. Those alerts were subsequently confirmed as hoaxes, with no suspicious items discovered.

Delhi Fire Services officials noted that fire tenders and rescue teams were rushed to the sites as a precaution in those cases as well.

The surge in such threats extends beyond schools. Courts nationwide, along with institutions in Noida, have faced analogous emails in recent weeks. In one instance last Thursday, at least 18 schools in Noida received threats during ongoing board examinations, resulting in extensive searches by police, bomb squads, dog units, and anti-sabotage teams. Authorities there also declared them hoaxes.

Police data indicates more than 500 such incidents were reported across the region last year, with at least four similar cases in Delhi-NCR over the past two weeks alone. While all threats to date have proven false, they continue to cause significant disruption, anxiety among students, parents, and staff, and strain on security resources.

Investigations into Monday’s threats remain active, with efforts focused on pinpointing the perpetrators behind these recurring anonymous alerts.
