A 17-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted by three men who claimed to be policemen in a park near Kalkaji Mandir in South Delhi on Monday evening. One of the accused has been arrested, while police are searching for the other two.
According to the complaint, the girl visited the temple with a 17-year-old male friend around 7 pm. After offering prayers, they went to a nearby park around 7:30 pm. Three men, aged approximately 25 to 30, approached them, identified themselves as police officers, and threatened the pair.
A police control room call about the incident was received at 8:45 pm, after which a team reached the location. The girl, a Delhi resident, was taken for medical examination. Further legal action is being taken based on her statement.
Police reviewed CCTV footage from the park and surrounding areas and gathered information about people present at the time. One accused, identified as Asif, was later arrested following an encounter. Efforts continue to identify and apprehend the remaining two suspects.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of law, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Authorities noted that this is the fourth reported incident involving the sexual assault of a minor in the capital within a span of 10 days.
