Delhi Biker Dies After Falling Into Uncovered Construction Pit In Janakpuri; Family Left In Dark for Hours

New Delhi: A 25-year-old man lost his life in west Delhi’s Janakpuri area after his motorcycle plunged into an uncovered pit dug for construction work, police said on Friday.

The victim’s family alleged that they were kept uninformed for several hours and spent the entire night moving from one police station to another before being notified of his death the following morning. The victim was on his way home from office.

The man reportedly went missing late at night after leaving home on his motorcycle. When he did not return and his phone became unreachable, relatives started searching for him and visited several police stations in west Delhi.

They claimed that despite making repeated visits to nearly a dozen police stations, they received no concrete information about his whereabouts. At around 7am, the police called the family and informed them that his body had been found.

Preliminary reports indicated that construction work was underway at the accident site, during which a pit had been dug on the road. The biker is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle and fallen into the pit at Joginder Singh Marg, near Green Valley Apartments, leading to fatal injuries. The area reportedly lacked adequate barricading or warning signage at the time of the incident.
