Dawood Ibrahim Property Auction: Ratnagiri Plots Sold To Delhi Lawyer

Mumbai: In a significant breakthrough for Indian law enforcement agencies, the ancestral properties of fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim have finally found a buyer. According to a report by NDTV, two agricultural plots located in Mumbake village of Khed district in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district were successfully auctioned on Thursday, March 19, 2026, after four previous attempts failed to attract any bidders.

The auction was conducted under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA). As reported by NDTV, the properties were purchased by a Delhi-based lawyer, Ajay Shrivastava, who has been a persistent bidder in previous auctions involving the D-Company’s assets. Shrivastava secured the two plots for a combined total of ₹2.11 crore, significantly higher than the base price of ₹19 lakh.

The successful sale marks a psychological and legal victory for the Indian government. For years, these properties remained unsold due to the perceived “fear factor” and the shadow of the 1993 Mumbai blasts mastermind. According to NDTV, the SAFEMA authorities attributed the success of this fifth auction to a combination of increased security assurances and a shifting public perception regarding the underworld’s influence.

The buyer, Shrivastava, stated through media channels that he intends to use the land to set up a Sanatan Pathshala (traditional school). While the land is agricultural, the process of transferring ownership will now begin under strict government supervision. This latest auction follows the successful sale of Ibrahim’s childhood home and other smaller assets in 2024, signaling a systematic dismantling of the fugitive’s remaining landed interests in his home state of Maharashtra.
