Coaching Centre Firing Case : Khan Sir Gets Interim Protection, Arrest Stayed

Patna : A Patna district court on Tuesday granted interim protection from arrest to educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, in connection with a case. The relief came during a hearing on Khan’s anticipatory bail plea before the District Judge’s court. The court clarified that investigators are free to question Khan in connection with the case.

The case stems from a June 2 firing incident at a coaching centre in Patna, following which police registered an FIR at Kadamkuan police station. The case was reportedly initiated on the basis of a viral video related to the incident. Two security guards associated with the coaching institute have already been arrested and are currently in judicial custody. Investigators have claimed that the guards admitted to opening fire.

Arguments on Khan’s anticipatory bail application were heard before the District Judge, with his counsel presenting submissions seeking protection from arrest while the investigation continues. The court has also reserved its order on the bail plea of Roshan Anand, another accused in the case. The firing incident had triggered a police investigation into allegations that the shooting was orchestrated from within the coaching institute.

During questioning, they told police that they fired two rounds each from their licensed .315-bore rifles after being instructed to do so. They further stated that Khan Sir was present at the spot when the incident occurred. Later, police named Khan Sir and two others in the FIR under provisions related to attempt to murder and the Arms Act.
