
In a case related to the Unlawful Activities Act (UAPA), the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing raided multiple places in the districts of Srinagar, Ganderbal, and Anantnag in coordinated pre-dawn swoops, confiscating digital devices.
As part of an ongoing investigation into terror-funding and other illegal linked actions, CIK detectives on Saturday initiated simultaneous search operations at three locations throughout the Valley based on intelligence inputs.
Riyaz Ahmad’s home in Hokarsar, close to Police Station Shalteng in Srinagar, was raided by a CIK team. Beigh, who was born in Dalal Mohalla, Maharaj Gunj, has spent the last sixteen years living in Hokarsar. During the raid, family members were questioned by CIK detectives.
At the same time, Syed Qalandar Shah’s home in Chountwaliwar, Lar, Ganderbal district, was searched by another CIK squad under the command of Deputy Superintendent of Police Nisar Ahmad. They examined bank records in addition to the house.
In Nowgam, Verinag, Anantnag, a third team raided Gulzar Ahmad Rather’s residence. Since 2012, authorities have recognized Rather as an Imam connected to the nearby Phali Masjid.
Several digital devices were found during these searches. The seizures were carried out in relation to FIR No. 07/2023, which was filed at Police Station JIC CIK Srinagar under Sections 153, 506 of the IPC and Sections 13, 18-B, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
