Centre Orders Removal Of Illegal Structures Near India-Pakistan Border Amid Security Concerns

New Delhi:  Amit Shah chaired a high-level review meeting in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district to assess the security situation along the India-Pakistan border. During the meeting, he emphasised the need for stronger monitoring and tighter enforcement measures in border areas.

Officials stated that the Home Minister directed authorities to adopt a “zero-tolerance” approach towards illegal constructions located close to the international border. 

Demolition Ordered Within 15-Km Border Belt

The Centre has instructed officials to identify and demolish all unauthorised structures situated within 0 to 15 kilometres of the border region. The move is aimed at improving surveillance and curbing activities linked to infiltration, smuggling, terror financing, and other cross-border crimes. 

Authorities were also asked to closely examine illegal networks operating in the border districts and prepare long-term strategies to prevent such activities from resurfacing.

Focus On Border Crime And Infiltration

During the review meeting, Amit Shah stressed the importance of coordinated efforts between security agencies, state authorities, and local administration to tackle threats emerging from border regions.

According to reports, officials have been instructed to intensify action against narcotics smuggling, illegal infiltration, encroachment, and financial crimes connected to cross-border operations. 

Enhanced Monitoring In Border Areas

The Ministry of Home Affairs also asked district administrations to improve scrutiny of suspicious financial transactions and verify funding sources of major business establishments operating in border regions.

As per reports cited by News18 and PTI, authorities have additionally been directed to identify fake documentation networks and strengthen measures against illegal activities in sensitive border districts. 

Push For Stronger Border Management

Officials stated that the Centre is focusing on building a comprehensive security framework involving security agencies, local administration, and residents living in border villages.

The government also highlighted the importance of effective implementation of welfare and infrastructure programmes in border areas to strengthen governance and improve vigilance.
