Central Govt Offices In Delhi To Remain Closed On 11th Sept For BRICS Summit

Due to the BRICS Summit 2026, which will take place in New Delhi from September 11 to 13, all government offices in Delhi and the central government will be closed on September 11. The decision is made in the midst of complex traffic and security plans for the transportation of VVIP motorcades and foreign delegations.

In anticipation of the meeting at Bharat Mandapam, the Central and Delhi governments have ordered the shutdown of government offices, autonomous bodies, and public sector undertakings (PSUs). In numerous areas of central, south, and southwest Delhi, traffic restrictions and detours are anticipated.

According to the ministry of personnel, public complaints, and pensions, the 18th BRICS Summit will bring together leaders from roughly thirty BRICS member and partner governments, presidents of international organizations, and corporate representatives from BRICS countries, including India.

The ministry’s order stated, “It has been decided to keep the central government offices in Delhi/New Delhi closed on Friday, September 11, 2026 (12th and 13th of September being Saturday and Sunday, respectively), in recognition of the magnitude of this event, the substantial logistical arrangements involved, and to minimize inconvenience to the general public.”

September 11 was also designated as a holiday for all Delhi government offices, autonomous bodies, and PSUs by the general administration department of the Delhi government.
