The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has deferred the launch of its online portal for verification and re-evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets from May 29 to June 1, 2026. The board cited the need to strengthen its website infrastructure to deliver a smooth, transparent, and error-free experience for students.
In an official statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), CBSE emphasised that the postponement would help maintain the highest standards in handling post-result activities. Students seeking to verify or challenge their marks can now access the dedicated portal starting June 1. The board has directed queries to its Tele-Counselling Helpline (1800 11 8004) or the email resultcbse2026@cbseshiksha.in.
A senior CBSE official that the portal would not open on the originally scheduled date as technical reinforcements were still underway. “CBSE will share an update on restarting of the portal… It will open on June 1 because we are still strengthening the website,” the official said.
The facility is open only to candidates who have already obtained scanned copies of their evaluated answer books. Under the revised process linked to the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, students can now raise question-wise objections where they believe marks were not awarded appropriately. These specific challenges will be re-assessed by subject experts through the OSM platform, with any mark changes communicated later.
Applicants must refer to the official marking scheme available on the CBSE website and clearly specify the reasons for their claims. Fees remain at ₹500 per answer book for verification and ₹100 per question for re-evaluation.

This development follows widespread concerns raised by students and teachers after the Class 12 results, which were evaluated entirely through the expanded OSM system. The pass percentage dropped to 85.20% this year from 88.39% in 2025. In response, the Education Ministry and CBSE had earlier reduced fees significantly and introduced a more structured review mechanism.
CBSE officials have defended the OSM system, noting that around 77,000 trained teachers carried out the evaluations without the use of artificial intelligence. The board maintains that the digital approach enhances transparency and eliminates manual errors. The verification and re-evaluation window is expected to remain open for at least two days after scanned copies are provided to applicants.
