BSF Jawan Allegedly Murders Wife in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur, Stages ‘Fall From Roof’ to Cover Up Death

A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan reportedly killed his wife in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district after assaulting her at their home, and later attempted to make it appear that she had died from a fall off the roof. The couple had been married for nearly 12 years and had two children, a son and a daughter, according to media reports.

The victim has been identified as Rama, whose family filed a complaint accusing her husband, Amarjit Singh, of returning home on leave on the night of August 13 and allegedly assaulting her, after which she succumbed to her injuries. According to the complaint, the family was informed at around 4:00 am on August 14 that Rama had fallen from the roof and had been taken to hospital for treatment. However, when they reached the hospital, they discovered she was already dead.

Family Suspects Injury Marks

Relatives told police they had noticed multiple injury marks on Rama’s body and believed she had been assaulted before her death, alleging that the account of a fall from the roof was fabricated to mislead investigators. Ram Chand, Rama’s father, further claimed that his daughter had endured ongoing harassment and physical abuse from her husband since their wedding.

Station House Officer Harprem Singh said the investigation remains ongoing. He added that Rama’s body was released to her family following the post-mortem, and her final rites will take place in her home village.
