Body of 34-Year-Old Woman Discovered in Locked Apartment

Bengaluru police broke open the door of a rented flat in Adugodi on Monday after neighbours reported a strong foul smell emanating from the premises, only to find the body of a 34-year-old woman in an advanced state of decomposition.
The deceased has been identified as Pooja Dutta, a resident of Dhanbad in Jharkhand, who had been working with a private company in the city. According to initial findings, her body was lying nude in a pool of blood inside the flat, which she had rented and occupied for the past three years, the landlady told investigators.
Neighbours grew concerned after noticing the odour and alerted the police. A team from the Adugodi police station reached the spot and forced open the door, which was locked from inside. No suicide note was recovered from the scene, though pieces of torn paper were found scattered around the house.
Officials said Pooja Dutta was last seen on April 23, when she had stepped out to buy groceries. Preliminary assessment suggests the death may have occurred two to three days prior to the discovery.

The Adugodi police have registered a case of unnatural death. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. A senior police officer stated that all possible angles are being investigated, and further probe will continue once the autopsy report is received. Authorities will then ascertain whether the death was a result of suicide or murder.
Pooja Dutta, who hailed from Dhanbad, had been living alone in the Bengaluru flat. Police have not ruled out any possibilities at this stage and are continuing their inquiries.
