Bihar Cabinet Expansion: Nitish Kumar’s Son Among New Ministers Sworn In Patna

Patna: In Gandhi Maidan of Patna, Ministers from the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United) and other National Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies took oath on Thursday as part of a major expansion of the Samrat Choudhary-led cabinet in Bihar.

Ministers who took oath in this cabinet include Shrawon Kumar, Vijay Kumar Sinha, Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, Nishant Kumar and Leshi Singh, with Ram Kripal Yadav, Nitish Mishra, Damodar Rawat, Sanjay Singh (Tiger), Ashok Choudhary and along with that many others join the NDA alliance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, along with several other ministers attended the occasion.

Amid the NDA’s landslide victory in Bihar, the 2025 verdict delivered the NDA a commanding three-fourths majority, while the Mahagathbandhan managed just 35 seats.

In the alliance itself, the Bhartiya Janata Party won 89 seats, Janata Dal (United) secured 85 seats, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) won 19 seats while Hindustani Awam Morcha and The Rashtriya Lok morcha bagged 5 and 4 seats respectively.

Nitish Kumar on November 20 took oath as Chief Minister for a record 10th time in the presence of PM Modi and other prominent leaders of the NDA.

Then later on March 30, Nitish Kumar resigned as a member of the Bihar Legislative Council (MLC), marking the next political transition as he presumes to assume office in the Rajya Sabha.

Samrat Choudhary was sworn in as a first-time ever BJP Chief Minister in Bihar, succeeding Nitish Kumar’s 21 year reign.

Inorder to give justice to the balance of power, JD(U) veterans Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav were positioned as Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar.

Earlier, Smarat Chaudhary won the trust of votes in the 243 member Bihar legislative assembly, reaffirming their NDA alliance.

Finally, the confidence motion was passed by BJP, JD (U) and and other partners of NDA by affirming their trust in Samrat.
