Andhra BJP Leader’s Wife Arrested After Alleged Plot to Kill Him Surfaces in Bike-Burning Probe

Andhra Pradesh police have arrested the wife of a local BJP leader and five others in connection with an alleged conspiracy to murder him, which came to light during the investigation of his motorcycle being set on fire.

The case began on September 13 when the motorcycle of BJP Mandal President Muniraju was allegedly burnt at night in Tirupati. Muniraju registered a complaint, and the police initially treated it as a possible property damage incident linked to a local political dispute, including controversy over Vinayaka Chavithi flexes. No immediate evidence supported that angle.

Investigators examined CCTV footage and technical evidence from the area and identified five men Sai, Uday Kiran, Leela Krishna, Prithviraj and Harish in connection with the fire. The suspects were taken into custody and admitted their involvement in setting the vehicle ablaze.

The probe took a different turn when Muniraju’s wife, Prashanthi, was linked to the case. Police found that she had been in close contact with one of the suspects, Sai, and had shared her husband’s location details and movements with him through social media activity. Investigators said Prashanthi and the others had allegedly discussed and planned attacks on Muniraju on multiple occasions.

The alleged murder plans were not carried out. The motorcycle fire is being treated as part of the wider conspiracy. Police arrested Prashanthi along with the five men, produced all six before a court, and they were sent to judicial remand.
