Ajay Devgn Hits Juhu Beach With A Different Kind Of Mission

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn joined Amruta Fadnavis, her daughter Divija Fadnavis, civic officials and scores of volunteers at Mumbai’s Juhu Beach on Saturday as part of Sea Shore Shine 2026, a post Ganesh Visarjan clean up initiative aimed at tackling waste left along the shoreline.

The drive was held at ‘A’ Gate, Juhu Beach, a day after Anant Chaturdashi and the conclusion of this year’s Ganesh idol immersions. Organised by the Divyaj Foundation, the initiative was conducted in partnership with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Mumbai Police. The campaign focused not only on clearing post immersion waste but also on encouraging citizens to take greater responsibility for Mumbai’s coastline.

Devgn joined volunteers on the beach and spoke about the need to treat public spaces with the same care people give their homes. His message was centred on individual responsibility, with the actor stressing that lasting cleanliness cannot depend solely on government agencies or a single organisation. He urged citizens to make small, consistent efforts to keep their surroundings clean.

Amruta Fadnavis, founder of the Divyaj Foundation, led the campaign and highlighted the environmental importance of cleaning Mumbai’s shores after the festival. She also stressed the need to involve young people in such initiatives, particularly in building awareness around marine pollution and responsible civic behaviour.

BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide was also present, along with civic representatives, students, NGOs and other volunteers. Divija Fadnavis spoke about the importance of getting younger generations involved in social initiatives, saying such participation can help build a stronger sense of responsibility towards the city and country.

According to reports, the 2026 campaign marks the sixth consecutive year of the Divyaj Foundation’s post Visarjan beach cleaning effort. The initiative has expanded over the years to involve civic bodies, voluntary organisations, students and citizens.

With Juhu Beach still bearing the impact of the previous day’s festivities, Sea Shore Shine 2026 brought together a mix of celebrity participation and grassroots volunteering. The central message from the organisers remained straightforward cleaning Mumbai’s coastline should not end when the clean up teams leave the beach it requires everyday participation from the people who use and share the city.
