21 Year Old Student From Kerala Killed In Uzbekistan, Family Allege Conversion Bid By Classmate

In Uzbekistan, a 21-year-old Keralan medical student lost her life after being attacked by a classmate after a furious altercation. Her family has now questioned the reason for the murder and said that the attack was far more violent than first stated.

Sadarul Anam, a classmate from Kerala’s Malappuram district, is accused of killing Savariya Basant. The family claims that she died after the accused hit her on the head during a fight.

Savariya’s relatives contacted the Alappuzha police to request a new inquiry after returning Savariya’s remains to Kerala. Savariya’s uncle, Janeesh, claimed that an investigating official in Uzbekistan informed him that the deceased had wounds all over her body, indicating that she had been the victim of a protracted attack.

“Her body was covered with wounds from head to toe. It wasn’t like he used a laptop to kill her in a single minute. “I was told it was done brutally by the investigating officer,” Janeesh remarked.

According to him, the investigating officer also told him that other pupils had told investigators that the accused had reportedly been pressing Savariya to convert before to the event.

“She [the investigating officer] said that throughout her inquiry, other students told her that the accused had coerced her into changing her religion, and some students had saw it. However, Savariya disagreed. The embassy official who visited was also informed of this,” he stated.

He also talked about the medical college’s housing arrangements, stating that male and female students shared a building but lived on different levels.

She was viciously attacked, but we truly don’t know why she was killed. Janeesh remarked, “There is not a single spot on her body that is free of injuries.

Based on the family’s accusation, police filed a murder case on Wednesday. The nearby hospital performed a second post-mortem investigation.

The family is requesting that the accused be extradited from Uzbekistan to face legal processes in India and that the probe be conducted in Kerala.
