Senior Advocate Yatin Oza has been elected president of the Gujarat High Court Advocates’ Association (GHCAA), securing his 19th term leading the organization he has been associated with for decades.
Oza first became GHCAA president at age 35 in 1994, making him the youngest person to hold the position. Throughout his career with the association, he has served as vice president six times and secretary once.
The December 19 election featured five candidates competing for the presidential position — Advocate Brijesh Trivedi, Yatin Oza, Babu Mangukiya, Darshan Shah, and Chitrajeet Upadhayay. Results were announced the next day.
Other elected officials include Advocate Prithvirajsinh Jadeja as vice president for his third term, Lawyer Bhavik Pandya as secretary, Advocate Darshan Shah as joint secretary, and Lawyer Ami Patel as treasurer.
The veteran advocate has held office bearer positions in GHCAA 18 times previously. Beyond his legal practice, Oza served in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly representing Sabarmati constituency from 1995 to 2001.
Meanwhile, in a separate election, Ishwar Desai won the presidency of the Ahmedabad Criminal Court Bar Association, regarded as one of Gujarat’s largest bar associations. Desai garnered 1760 votes against his opponent’s 1601 votes.
