Water Levels in Sardar Sarovar Dam Rise to 55% Amid Steady Rainfall — Check Status of Other Dams in Gujarat

Sardar Sarovar Dam Receiving Increased Inflow
With the onset of this year’s monsoon bringing consistent rainfall across Gujarat, the state has witnessed a significant boost in water storage. Due to this rainfall, the water level in the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada River has seen a considerable rise. According to available updates, the dam is currently receiving an inflow of 68,786 cusecs from upstream regions. As a result, three power units of RBPH (River Bed Power House) and one unit of CHPH (Canal Head Power House) have been activated to manage the increased water flow.
At present, the water level of the dam stands at 121.40 meters, with the Sardar Sarovar Dam having reached about 55% of its total storage capacity. The dam’s maximum storage level is 138.68 meters.
Water Status Across Gujarat’s Dams
Data indicates that Gujarat’s 206 reservoirs currently hold 59.37% of their total collective storage capacity, which is approximately 3,31,347 million cubic feet. Out of these 206 dams, 26 are completely full, while 58 are filled between 70% and 100%. Another 40 dams are holding between 50% and 70% capacity, and 42 dams fall within the 25% to 50% range. However, 40 dams in the state have water levels below the 25% mark.
Currently, 40 dams across Gujarat are on high alert due to increased inflow, 24 are in alert mode, and warnings have been issued for 20 others as rainfall continues to affect water bodies statewide.
