Vadodara Municipal Corporation Gets New Mayor, BJP Announces New Mayors; Key Office Bearers In Gujarat Municipal Corporations

Vadodara : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced the new office-bearers of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), appointing Gita Makwana as the city’s new mayor. Aditya Patel has been named deputy mayor, while Varshaben Vyas has been appointed chairman of the standing committee.

The names of the new office-bearers for the Rajkot Municipal Corporation and Vadodara Municipal Corporation were officially declared, while the process of appointing office-bearers is also underway in municipal corporations including Valsad-Vapi, Surendranagar, Bhavnagar and Anand-Karamsad.

Polling for the elections was held on Sunday across 15 municipal corporations, 84 municipalities, 34 district panchayats, and 260 taluka panchayats in the state. Counting began at 9 am on Tuesday, State Election Commission (SEC) officials said. The elections are being seen as one of the largest democratic exercises in Gujarat ahead of the Assembly polls due next year, covering nearly 9,200 seats with over 4.18 crore eligible voters.
