Unseasonal Rain to Lash Gujarat on April 7: Saurashtra, North Gujarat Districts on Alert

A fresh bout of unseasonal rainfall is set to hit several parts of Gujarat on April 7, as a western disturbance continues to influence the region’s weather, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned. The development has raised concerns among farmers and coastal communities across the state.

Coastal areas are also expected to witness stronger-than-usual wind speeds due to the active weather system. As a precautionary measure, authorities have specifically directed fishermen to stay off the sea on both April 6 and 7. Port areas have been placed on alert as well.

Brief Relief Before the Heat Returns

Temperatures in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and other major cities are currently hovering around 35°C — within the seasonal normal range. While the rain system is expected to keep a lid on temperatures for the next two days, the respite will be short-lived. The IMD anticipates the mercury to climb again from April 8 onward, with the second week of April likely bringing intense heat conditions.

Farmers on Edge

The repeated weather swings and the threat of crop damage from unseasonal rain have put the farming community on alert. Authorities have advised farmers to move ready harvests to safe storage as quickly as possible to minimise losses.
