Surat: In a tragic incident, three members of a family, a father, mother, and their son, allegedly died by suicide by jumping into the Tapi River from a bridge in Surat’s Kamrej Taluka on April 17. The incident took place near the Gadateshwar Mahadev temple. Initial reports suggest the family may have taken this extreme step due to financial distress.
Following the alert, a team from the Fire Brigade arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies. Local police also reached the spot and have launched an investigation. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. While the woman’s body was recovered on Thursday night, the bodies of the father and son were found on Friday morning.
According to the investigation, the family hailed from Saurashtra and had been living in Surat’s Chowk Bazaar area. The deceased have been identified as Vipulbhai Ravjibhai Prajapati, who worked in the diamond industry; his wife, Saritaben Vipulbhai Prajapati; and their son, Vraj Vipulbhai Prajapati.
