Six Districts In Gujarat On Red Alert Today For Heavy To Very Heavy Rain

Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed six districts in Gujarat under a red alert today due to the likelihood of extremely heavy rainfall. These include Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Devbhumi Dwarka, and Kutch. The weather conditions in these regions are expected to be severe, with intense showers continuing throughout the day. 171 talukas have reported rain in the last 24 hours.
The rain is not limited to just these areas. Forecasts suggest that several other parts of the state will also experience heavy downpours. Districts such as Banaskantha, Patan, Sabarkantha, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Gir Somnath, and Diu have also been flagged for significant rainfall activity.
Over the past 24 hours, rainfall has been widespread across Gujarat, affecting as many as 155 talukas. Some areas have recorded substantial rainfall totals, including 2.8 inches in Kalyanpur (Devbhumi Dwarka), 2.3 inches in Mandvi (Kutch), 1.7 inches in Pardi (Valsad), and 1.5 inches in Nakhatrana (Kutch).
The weather forecast for June 29 and 30 continues to signal concern. The IMD predicts that districts such as Kutch, Amreli, Gir Somnath, and Porbandar will witness heavy to very heavy rainfall over the weekend, further heightening the risk of flooding and waterlogging in vulnerable areas.
Looking ahead to July 1, the IMD has issued an orange alert for Navsari and Valsad, indicating the possibility of intense rainfall. A yellow alert has also been declared for several other districts including Amreli, Gir Somnath, Bhavnagar, Narmada, Surat, Tapi, and Dang.
Rainfall is expected to intensify across the state on July 2. The IMD has predicted that as many as 20 districts will receive heavy to very heavy rain on that day. An orange alert has been issued for Aravalli, Mahisagar, Dahod, and Chhota Udepur, while a yellow alert is in place for a wide range of regions including Kutch, Patan, Mehsana, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Panchmahal, Narmada, Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Dang, Valsad, Amreli, and Bhavnagar.
Authorities have urged residents to stay informed and exercise caution, as the state continues to battle an extended spell of monsoon fury.
