Shocking: Mother Strangles Six-Year-Old Daughter To Death In Ahmedabad

Deceased's Step Father Files Complaint After Accused Confesses To Crime

A horrific incident has taken place in Ahmedabad, wherein a mother strangled her 6-year-old daughter to death. The incident is of the Odhav area. Police have detained the woman and are investigating the matter.

The incident took place on July 2 when the deceased, named Aarushi, came home from school. Her mother Usha Lodhi told her to do a household chore. When Aarushi refused to do the chore, Usha got angry and slapped her a few times. After which in a fit of rage, she allegedly strangled Aarushi to death.

After her daughter’s death, Usha called up her husband Amit Lodhi, and told him that Aarushi had fallen asleep and was not waking up. Panicked by this information, Amit rushed to his home with a colleague. He took Aarushi to a nearby private hospital, where she was declared brought dead. Aarushi was brought back home. Meanwhile, a neighbor informed the 108 emergency services. Aarushi was taken to the Odhav Government Hospital, where she was formally pronounced dead. Her post-mortem was also conducted.

On the other hand, the next morning, Usha confessed to Amit about allegedly strangling Aarushi to death in a heated moment. Amit immediately informed the police and filed a complaint against his wife. Odhav police have registered a case of murder and have arrested Usha. Aarushi’s post-mortem report is awaited.

Amit originally hails from Uttar Pradesh and works as a fabricator in Ahmedabad. He has been living with his second wife Usha and their daughter Aarushi in Ahmedabad for more than a year and a half. Aarushi was Usha’s daughter from her previous marriage. This incident has shaken the locality of Odhav. It raises concern over issues such as child abuse at home which most of the times goes unreported.
