An incident of drowning has taken place in Gomtighat of Dwarka. In which, 7 people drowned in the Gomti River. Apparently, all 7 of them were taking a dip in the river, when due to the strong current of the water they were swept into the river.
Primary information reveals that all 7 of them hail from Jamnagar. One woman died of drowning, whose body has been sent for post-mortem. The woman has been identified as Bhagyeshwari. Other women have been shifted to the Dwarka government hospital for treatment.
As the people were being swept by the current of the water, locals rushed to save them. Additionally, the fire brigade team also reached the spot to rescue the drowning people. Local camel drivers also helped in the rescue, bringing down the camel into the river to save the people. Rescue boats also arrived.

A lot of people and pilgrims bathe in the holy Gomti River. The river is connected with the sea, due to which it experiences strong currents in the water frequently. Especially from the months of June to August, the sea of Dwarka experiences strong currents and waves, which affects the river. Such mishaps often take place, exposing the inactive administration.
Prior to this, an 85-year-old man had died of drowning in the Gomti River. People have also gone missing due to being swept away by the strong currents of the river. Last month, three individuals from Patan had traveled to the city of Dwarka to visit the temple. During their visit, they had entered the Gomti River for a ritual bath. Unfortunately, strong currents and rising water levels caught them off guard. Locals who had witnessed the incident quickly alerted rescue services. Teams from the municipal fire brigade and local divers had rushed to the scene. One man had been successfully pulled from the river and immediately taken to a government hospital by 108 ambulance services. The other 2 had been missing; dead bodies of both of them were found a day after. It is necessary that the administration implements safety measures and provisions for the pilgrims and visitors, so that unforeseen situations are avoided.
