
This year, early occurrence of rains has caused troubles not only for the farmers, but also for the citizens. Farmers were already disappointed by the unseasonal rains; a significant portion of the harvested crop got spoiled, whereas standing crops also got damaged. After the unseasonal rains, these early monsoon rains have proven to be catastrophic for the farmers.
Meanwhile, for safety reasons, the ropeway service at the Girnar mountain has been suspended owing to heavy rainfall. Gir has been experiencing heavy rains. As a result, the administration has stopped the ropeway facility to prevent any accidents or mishaps during such weather. The service will resume once the weather becomes calm and normal.
On the other hand, since a few days, strong winds and rainfall have also caused damage in various parts of the state, generating difficulties for the common people. Hoardings fell down in several places. Cases of trees getting collapsed were also reported.
Cases of tree collapse were reported in several areas of Ahmedabad, including Satellite Road, Gomtipur, Rajpur, Saraspur, Sattadhar crossroad, Navrangpura, Viratnagar, and Jamalpur. In Valsad, a moped driver was rescued from under a tree.
The following are the IMD predictions for the coming days-
- May 27- Light to medium rainfall is predicted in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Daang, Valsad, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Apart from this, scattered rains are predicted in Bhavnagar. In Bharuch, strong winds with heavy rainfall are predicted. Medium rainfall is likely in Gir-Somnath, Amreli, Panchmahal, and Dahod.
- May 28 & May 29- As of May 28, a yellow alert has been issued in scattered places of Amreli, Bhavnagar, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, and Dahod due to heavy rainfall. For the same reasons, a yellow alert has been issued in scattered places of Chhota Udepur, Dahod, Mahisagar, Aravalli, Amreli, and Bhavnagar, on May 29.
- May 30 to June 1- On the other hand, light to medium rainfall along with thunderstorms has been predicted in scattered places of Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir-Somnath, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Bharuch, Narmada, Panchmahal, Dahod, Surat, Tapi, Daang, Navsari, and Valsad. During this time there are possibilities of winds blowing at a speed of 40-50 km per hour in the state.
