Rahul Gandhi To Address Tribal Convention In Vadodara, Focus On Constitutional Rights

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, is scheduled to visit Vadodara on Monday to attend a convention organised by the Scheduled Tribes (ST) wing of the Congress party. The event, centred on issues facing tribal communities, is expected to run for roughly five hours, with Gandhi slated to be present for about an hour.

Vikrant Bhuria, Chairman of the All India Adivasi Congress, told reporters that tribal people account for nearly 14% of Gujarat’s population, yet continue to face exploitation despite their numbers. He said the party is committed to fighting for the constitutional rights of tribals.

Dr Tushar Chaudhary, Leader of Opposition in the state assembly, was clear that the convention has no electoral agenda. The focus, he said, would be on identifying the problems faced by tribal communities in Gujarat and working out practical solutions.

Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda said Gandhi will hold direct conversations with activists, women, professionals, entrepreneurs, and workers from tribal areas all people who, according to Chavda, are actively engaged in the fight for tribal rights.
