Power outage in South Gujarat

While heatwave conditions are prevailing across Gujarat, power supply has been disrupted in areas including Surat, Tapi, and South Gujarat. People created a commotion at Torrent Power after power outages occurred in areas including Surat, Tapi, Bharuch, and Rajpipla.

According to reports received from Getco and LMU, 500 MW of power generation has been reduced due to the tripping of four units of Ukai TPS. The tripping of the 400 KV Asoj line caused major disruption in the grid. The State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) is taking steps to resolve the entire matter. As per the information received, first of all, the Asoj- Kosamba line of Vadodara was tripped. As a result, the issue of low voltage has arisen. The demand of DGVCL has come down from 5200 MW to 700 MW. Currently, the load of DGVCL has increased from 700 to 1040 MW, which is still not stable. The situation worsened when 500 megawatts of power generation was shut down.

DGVCL has claimed that the power outage occurred due to a grid failure. People from a diamond factory in Surat said that the power went off suddenly, which has caused damage to the machines. On the other hand, due to the continuous power outages in Olpad, people in government offices have been forced to work in the dark.
