Lightning Kills Surat Woman Working On Farm As Sudden Storm Hits Region

Surat: A sudden thunderstorm brought heavy rain and strong winds to parts of Gujarat on Wednesday, resulting in the tragic death of a woman in Surat district. The incident occurred in Saras village of Olpad Taluka, where Manjulaben Patel was struck by lightning while working in her field.

Manjulaben had gone out in the morning to harvest okra from her farm when the weather took a sharp turn. As dark clouds gathered and thunder roared overhead, a lightning bolt struck her. She died instantly from the impact, as per the reports. Villagers rushed to the scene after hearing the thunder and were devastated to find her body. The sudden loss has cast a shadow of grief over the entire village. Community members are now urging the government to extend financial aid to her family, who have been left shocked and heartbroken.

Earlier in the day, several areas of Surat city, including Adajan, Pal, Rander, and Athwalines, were lashed by intense rainfall and powerful winds. The weather shift is part of a broader pre-monsoon system predicted by the Indian Meteorological Department, which has warned of continued rain and storms in the coming days.
