Junagadh to Host ‘Mini Kumbh’: Mahashivratri Fair 2026 Set To Be Grand Spectacle With First-Ever Saints’ Procession

Junagadh: The world-renowned Mahashivratri fair held in the lap of Girnar is set to reach new heights this year. Following a recent meeting between saints and the administrative authorities, final approval has been given to the fair’s organization. This year’s event will symbolize not just devotion but also grand-scale planning.

Key Attractions and Changes This Year

The fair, scheduled from February 11 to 15, will feature several new facilities for devotees:

First-Ever Divine City Procession: A special grand procession has been organized on February 11 to welcome the saints upon their arrival.

Extended Ravedi Route: Keeping in mind the crowd of devotees, the Ravedi route has been extended from 1.5 kilometers to 2 kilometers, allowing more people to witness the Naga sadhus.

Lord Shiva-Themed Decorations: The Tourism Department will decorate the entire route based on Lord Shiva’s theme and set up selfie points.

Live Streaming: For devotees unable to attend in person, the Shahi Snan (royal bath) will be broadcast live.

Robust Security and Facility Arrangements

To manage the lakhs of attendees, the government has significantly enhanced security arrangements.

Police force has been increased from 1,600 to over 2,900 personnel. Over 1,000 local youth volunteers will participate for the first time. The entire area will be monitored through CCTV cameras for security. More than 300 service organizations will provide food and prasad arrangements. Dormitory and accommodation facilities will be available.

Special Theme Song Launched

During the meeting, a special theme song for the Mahashivratri fair was also launched. This song will enhance enthusiasm among devotees for the fair.

Arrangements for Vehicle Drivers and Travelers

To prevent traffic congestion during the fair, the administration will create special parking zones on the Rajkot and Somnath highways. Shuttle bus services will be available from there to Bhavnath. The Railways and S.T. Corporation have also planned to run additional special trains and buses to accommodate the influx of devotees. The official announcement and schedule will be released by the administration shortly.

Saints and devotees from across the country are cordially invited to this festival of devotion at Bhavnath. The administration and state government have also appealed to local citizens to warmly welcome the visiting Shiva devotees and cooperate in maintaining order.
