A shocking incident in Junagadh turned violent on Diwali night, leading to the death of a young man after an argument over bursting firecrackers escalated into a brutal attack. Police have arrested five people, including the son of a retired Police Sub-Inspector (PSI), a woman, and three members of the same family in connection with the murder.
Clash Over Firecrackers Turns Fatal
According to Junagadh DYSP Hitesh Dhandliya, the incident occurred late on Diwali night near Amul Apartment on the road connecting Madhuram to Chobari Gate. The victim, Divyang Chudasama, was celebrating Diwali with friends by lighting firecrackers when a group of residents from the same apartment began arguing with them over the activity.
The verbal dispute quickly escalated as accused Raj Hun, Keval Joshi, Ramsingh Barad, and his parents Rambhai and Jayshree Barad allegedly attacked Divyang and his friends using sticks, iron rods, and pipes.
Victim Succumbs to Injuries
Divyang sustained severe injuries to his head and shoulder and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds during treatment. Based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s mother, police arrested all five accused including the retired PSI’s son and have initiated further investigation into the case.
Authorities said the accused will face charges of murder and assault under relevant sections of the IPC. The investigation continues to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the violent confrontation.
