Ahmedabad: In a major update for cricket fans, the BCCI has announced changes to the IPL 2025 playoff schedule, with the final and Qualifier 2 now set to be held in Ahmedabad. The Narendra Modi Stadium will host the grand finale on June 3, while Qualifier 2 will take place at the same venue on June 1. This decision marks a shift from the earlier plan, which had listed Hyderabad and Kolkata as the original venues for the final stages of the tournament.
The change in venue was finalized during a BCCI meeting held earlier this week. With the onset of the monsoon season across several parts of the country, weather conditions were a key factor in relocating the playoffs. To avoid the risk of rain interruptions, the first two playoff matches, Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator, will now be played in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, on May 29 and May 30 respectively, as per the reports.
The IPL shared the revised schedule on its official social media platforms, confirming Ahmedabad as the venue for the final two matches. The Narendra Modi Stadium, known for its capacity and modern facilities, is expected to provide a fitting stage for the conclusion of the tournament.
These changes come after the IPL was temporarily suspended on May 9, following rising tensions between India and Pakistan. The BCCI had paused the tournament citing national security concerns, stating that it was not appropriate to host a sporting event amid the sensitive situation. Now, with conditions stabilizing, the league has resumed under a revised schedule, with fans hoping for an exciting conclusion to the season.
