
Ahmedabad: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for six districts in Gujarat, warning of intense rain and powerful winds expected over the next three hours. The affected areas include Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Tapi, Dang, Navsari, and Valsad, along with the Union Territories of Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. Wind speeds could range between 62 to 87 km/h, accompanied by heavy downpours.
Elsewhere in the state, scattered thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 41–61 km/h are likely. Vadodara, Surat, and Bharuch have been placed under an orange alert for moderate rainfall.
A yellow alert has also been issued for several other regions, including Anand, Kheda, Dahod, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, Aravalli, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, and Botad. These areas can expect light to moderate rain with lighter winds below 40 km/h.
Looking ahead, the IMD forecasts a rainy spell across Saurashtra and South Gujarat for the next seven days. No major changes in temperature are expected during this period. Heavy rain is especially likely in Valsad, Navsari, Daman, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
North Gujarat districts like Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, and Mahisagar may also experience isolated showers and thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and winds reaching 30–40 km/h. Rain is expected to affect most southern and coastal districts, including Rajkot, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Diu.
