Gujarat Weather Update: IMD Predicts Rain In 16 Districts, Heatwave Expected In Others

Ahmedabad: After a week of unseasonal rainfall, Gujarat has seen a noticeable drop in showers over the past two days. However, the respite might be short-lived. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued fresh forecasts predicting light to moderate rain in 16 districts of the state on Wednesday, May 14.

According to the IMD, scattered rainfall is likely across South Gujarat, covering districts like Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, as well as the Union Territories of Daman, Dadra, and Nagar Haveli. Parts of Saurashtra and Kutch, including Rajkot, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Kutch, and Diu, are also expected to receive light to moderate showers, potentially accompanied by thunderstorms.

While parts of the state brace for more rain, some cities are in for a wave of intense heat. The IMD has warned that temperatures could soar past 40°C in Ahmedabad, Rajkot, and Bhuj starting today. As the impact of recent unseasonal rains fades, these areas are likely to experience significantly hotter conditions. The mercury is expected to rise even further in the coming week, with maximum temperatures possibly increasing by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius.

So, parts of Gujarat are facing different weather conditions, rain showers are set to return in some districts, while others prepare for a surge in summer heat. Residents are advised to stay updated with local forecasts and take necessary precautions.
