Gujarat Shakes Again: 4 Earthquakes Strike Saurashtra, Kutch And South Gujarat In 24 Hours

Gujarat has witnessed renewed seismic activity over the past 24 hours, with the state experiencing a series of tremors across multiple regions. A total of four mild earthquakes were recorded in Saurashtra, Kutch and South Gujarat areas. However, all tremors were of low intensity, and no reports of casualties or property damage have emerged from any location.

TWO TREMORS RECORDED EARLY MORNING TODAY (JANUARY 14)

On Makar Sankranti morning today, two separate earthquakes were registered simultaneously at 02:23 AM in different parts of the state:

An earthquake measuring 2.5 on the Richter scale was recorded near Amreli in Saurashtra, with its epicentre located 37 kilometres south-southwest (SSW) of Amreli at a depth of 11 kilometres below the surface. At the same time, an extremely mild tremor measuring 1.6 on the Richter scale was felt near Vansda in South Gujarat. Its epicentre was situated 8 kilometres south-southeast (SSE) of Vansda at a shallow depth of just 1.6 kilometres.

TWO TREMORS ALSO RECORDED YESTERDAY (JANUARY 13)

Prior to this, on Tuesday, seismic movements were also observed along the coastal regions of Kutch and Saurashtra:

A tremor measuring 2.7 on the Richter scale was recorded at 03:05 AM, with its epicentre 41 kilometres north-northeast (NNE) of the historic site of Dholavira in Kutch.

Meanwhile, an earthquake of 2.7 magnitude struck the Arabian Sea at 09:58 AM, located 46 kilometres away from Porbandar.

Thus, over the last 24 hours, the state has experienced mild tremors across different seismic zones, causing the earth to shake once again.
