
Gujarat has been under a deluge for several days, with heavy rainfall reported across multiple regions on Saturday, June 21. North Gujarat bore the brunt, with Sabarkantha district recording the highest rainfall. According to the Meteorological Department, Sabarkantha saw 12.5 inches of rain in just 24 hours, leading to widespread waterlogging in several areas.
Sabarkantha Soaked by Monsoon Fury
The Meteorological Department released rainfall data for the past 24 hours, revealing North Gujarat as the epicenter of the downpour. Vadali district in Sabarkantha recorded a staggering 12.2 inches of rain, while Khedbrahma district in the same district saw 10.3 inches. Idar reported 4.9 inches, with other parts of Sabarkantha receiving around 1 inch of rainfall.
Saurashtra Leads Monsoon Tally
Notably, Saurashtra has received the highest rainfall this monsoon season, accounting for 20% of the state’s total, followed by East-Central Gujarat with 16%.
Where It Rained the Most
Per the weather data, North Gujarat topped the charts for the heaviest rainfall in a 24-hour period. Sabarkantha led with 12.2 inches, followed by Banaskantha with 10.3 inches and Aravalli with 4.6 inches. In South Gujarat, Surat recorded 3.3 inches of rain.




How is The Situation in Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar?
Patnagar and Gandhinagar of Gujarat also received 1.3 inches of rain. Around 1 inch of rainfall was also recorded in Ahmedabad. Vadodara also received 1.1 inches of rain.
