Gujarat on High Alert: IMD Issues Orange Alert for 18 Districts, Yellow for 15 Amid Heavy Rain Forecast

Ahmedabad: Light rain fell across most parts of Gujarat yesterday, including Ahmedabad city, where cloudy conditions persist today. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts heavy rainfall across the state until July 7th, with a wet spell likely in the coming days.

Specifically, light to moderate rain is expected in all districts between 10 PM and 1 AM nightly. Currently, the IMD has issued an Orange Alert (indicating heavy to very heavy rain) for 18 districts and a Yellow Alert (heavy rain) for 15 districts.

Most districts are likely to experience rain in the coming week, with the IMD predicting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. Yesterday, between 6 AM and 12 PM, rain was recorded in 56 talukas. Subir (Dang district) received the highest rainfall at 3.15 inches, followed by Dolvan (Tapi district) at 2.75 inches.

For today, the IMD predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall, particularly in some areas of Ahmedabad. An Orange Alert is active for the districts of Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Arvalli, Mahisagar, Dahod, Gandhinagar, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, and Dang. Authorities urge residents to take necessary precautions and stay safe.

Additionally, fishermen operating in coastal districts have been advised not to venture into the sea currently. Gujarat has recorded significant rainfall over the past 15 days.
