Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday announced the formation of 17 new talukas aimed at strengthening local governance and easing public access to administrative services. The decision was taken during the state cabinet meeting held earlier in the day.
With this move, the total number of talukas in Gujarat has increased to 265. According to the government, the step is designed to make governance more people-centric while improving the overall efficiency of state administration.
Officials stated that the creation of new talukas will bring government services closer to citizens, reducing the need for residents to travel long distances for official work and saving both time and effort.
