Gujarat Farmers Face Mounting Concerns as Unseasonal Rainfall with Thunderstorms Expected for Four More Days; See Rainfall Locations

Ahmedabad: Over the past four days, many parts of Gujarat have experienced intense unseasonal rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. The sudden shift in weather during peak summer—marked by strong winds and showers—has reportedly caused damage to standing crops, raising concerns among farmers. Now, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and winds across the state until May 13, 2025. On Friday (May 9), several districts including Amreli, Botad, Dang, Narmada, and Gandhinagar reported unseasonal rain. According to data, 63 talukas recorded rainfall between 6 AM on May 8 and 6 AM on May 9.
Rain Forecast Across Gujarat for the Next Two Days:
As per the IMD, Gujarat is expected to witness light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms over the next four days. On May 10, rain is likely in isolated places across the state, and similar conditions are forecast for scattered areas on May 11. On May 12, unseasonal rain is expected in 25 districts. These include Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Botad, Bhavnagar, and Gir Somnath in Saurashtra, as well as Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Dahod, Kheda, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Anand, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Dang, and Valsad.
On May 13, light to moderate unseasonal rainfall with thunderstorms is also likely in the districts of Amreli, Gir Somnath, Bhavnagar, Bharuch, Narmada, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Navsari, and Valsad.
On May 9 alone, between 6 AM and 2 PM, unseasonal showers were reported in 32 talukas. Dehgam in Gandhinagar recorded 23 mm, Vagra in Bharuch saw 18 mm, Unjha in Mehsana and Ahwa in Dang received 12 mm each, while Mahuwa in Surat recorded 11 mm of rainfall. In total, 63 talukas received rain over the 24-hour period ending at 6 AM on May 9.
