Gujarat Braces for 5 More Days of Heavy Rains; Saurashtra & South Gujarat on High Alert

Ahmedabad: Gujarat is experiencing a rainy spell at the onset of the Ashadh month, with the Meteorological Department forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall across several parts of the state for the next five days. Most districts are likely to see light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and winds blowing at 30-40 kilometers per hour.

Rain Expected on Ashadhi Beej Across Multiple Districts
On Ashadhi Beej, a widespread rainy atmosphere is expected to prevail across Gujarat. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast for districts including Banaskantha, Patan, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Rajkot, Junagadh, and Kutch. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is predicted in Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Panchmahal, Dahod, Chhotaudepur, Narmada, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Surendranagar, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Devbhumi Dwarka, Gir Somnath, and Botad. Scattered showers are also likely in all districts of North Gujarat, South Gujarat, Saurashtra, and Kutch.

Rainy Conditions to Continue for Five Days
On June 28, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Banaskantha, Patan, Jamnagar, Morbi, Devbhumi Dwarka, and Kutch. Heavy rain is also forecast for Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Botad. Other districts in North Gujarat, South Gujarat, Saurashtra, and Kutch may experience light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds.

From June 29 to July 1, several districts are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. Navsari, Valsad, Daman, and Dadra Nagar Haveli are likely to see intense showers, while heavy rain is forecast for Chhotaudepur, Narmada, Dang, Tapi, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Kutch.

Rainfall Recorded in 159 Talukas Today
Notably, rainfall was recorded in 159 talukas across Gujarat today. According to data from the State Emergency Centre, Gandhinagar, as of 6 PM on June 26, Maliya Hatina in Junagadh district recorded 5.31 inches of rain. Other significant rainfall included 4.76 inches in Mahuva (Surat), 4.65 inches in Visavadar, 4.17 inches in Khergam, 4.02 inches in Chikhli, 3.98 inches in Talala, 3.46 inches in Bardoli, 3.19 inches in Kamrej, 3.19 inches in Kalyanpur, 3.15 inches in Ranavav, and 3.11 inches in Pardi.
