Mehsana : The law and order situation in Mehsana city has been deteriorated. In Ward No. 4, a political dispute took a bloody turn and a BJP candidate’s nephew was stabbed to death. Tension has been grappled across city following the incident. According to the details received, a group clash took place between BJP and Congress supporters in the Tawadiya Road area of Mehsana.
Miten Chaudhary, the nephew of the BJP candidate, was fatally attacked by 4 to 5 unknown persons with sharp weapons and sticks. He sustained serious injuries in attack and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Another youth named Dhimant Chaudhary was also injured in the attack. On the other hand, information is being received that the husband of Congress candidate on the other side has also been injured.
In this matter, DySP Milap Patel said, ‘This violent incident took place late last night on the road from Manav Ashram Chowkdi to Tawadiya in Mehsana city ‘A’ Division Police Station area. Miten Chaudhary and his friend Dhimant Chaudhary were passing by in a car with two other friends, when four to five unknown persons blocked their car and stopped it. The attackers attacked the youths in a planned manner with sharp weapons, sticks and pipes. Miten Chaudhary suffered serious injuries in attack. The other victim, Dhimant Chaudhary, also suffered injuries and is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.’
As soon as the incident was reported, a convoy of A-Division Police and LCB (Local Crime Branch) along with senior officers of the district police rushed to the spot. The police have seized CCTV footage of the area to nab the attackers. They have also started searching for the accused on the basis of technical surveillance.
