Gira Waterfall In Dang Comes Alive After Heavy Rainfall, Authorities Urge Tourists To Stay Cautious

Dang: With the onset of the monsoon in Gujarat, the scenic Gira Waterfall near Waghai in Dang district has roared back to life, drawing large crowds of tourists eager to witness the natural spectacle. In the past 24 hours alone, Dang recorded a heavy downpour of 10 inches, causing rivers and waterfalls in the region to overflow.
The Ambika River, a key waterway in the district, is now flowing at full capacity, and the Gira Waterfall has turned into a dramatic cascade, drawing visitors. Rain continues to lash areas such as Subir, Ahwa, and Waghai, with lightning and thunder accompanying the showers.
The rising water levels in major rivers, including the Ambika, Purna, Gira, and Khapri, have led to several causeways being submerged, cutting off road access to over 20 villages and disrupting transportation. At Shivghat, another waterfall along the Ahwa-Waghai route, the relentless rains have also activated a strong water flow.

However, authorities are warning tourists and nature lovers to be extremely cautious. Local administration has issued multiple advisories urging visitors not to enter rivers, streams, or waterfalls. Tourists have been asked to avoid venturing near cliffs, gorges, and fast-flowing water bodies, and to refrain from taking selfies or photos in risky areas.
Officials have also requested citizens not to park vehicles haphazardly at public spots or along main roads, and to avoid traveling through waterlogged roads, flooded bridges, or areas affected by landslides. People have been specifically told not to use blocked routes and to cooperate with law enforcement personnel and volunteers working to maintain order and public safety.
With the landscape of Dang turning lush and vibrant during the monsoon, the district has once again become a magnet for nature enthusiasts. However, the district administration is reminding all visitors to enjoy the region’s natural wonders responsibly and to prioritize safety above all.
