Ahmedabd: The city is in the final stages of preparation for the 148th Rath Yatra, one of Gujarat’s most significant religious events, attracting lakhs of devotees every year. A massive security rehearsal took place today to ensure smooth execution on the day of the yatra.
Starting at 7 AM from the Jagannath Temple in Jamalpur, a full-dress rehearsal was conducted along the designated route of the yatra. The simulation was designed to mirror the actual event, with police officers, jawans, and various security forces marching along the route as if the real procession were taking place.
The rehearsal concluded at the Nij Mandir (main temple) after a thorough walkthrough of the entire route. Officials inspected all key locations along the path, including narrow lanes, high-traffic zones, and temporary structures, ensuring that every detail was in place.

Special attention was also given to Saraspur, considered the “maternal home” of Lord Jagannath, where security arrangements were reviewed and drills were held.
The exercise was led by Police Commissioner G.S. Malik and involved more than 50 vehicles and over 20,000 police personnel. To strengthen surveillance, over 400 CCTV cameras have been installed along the route, with an additional 150 to be deployed soon. Advanced AI technology is also being integrated to prevent incidents like the recent stampede in Bengaluru, ensuring maximum safety for all participants.
