Ahmedabad: A shocking incident has emerged from the Gheekanta area of Ahmedabad. Reports have surfaced of an old building collapsing in the well-known Navtad Pol locality. Three people were trapped under the debris when this building collapsed. It has been confirmed that an elderly woman lost her life in the incident. As soon as information about the incident was received, police and fire brigade teams rushed to the spot and immediately launched a rescue operation.
MLA Also Reached the Spot, Woman’s Death Confirmed
MLA Kaushik Jain stated that the buildings located in this pol are approximately 100 years old. Drainage work was underway near the dilapidated building, and it was during that time that the building collapsed. Three people, including an elderly woman and a laborer, were trapped in the debris. According to information received, Pushpaben Panchal (aged 62) died during treatment at Civil Hospital. When questioned about notices for dilapidated buildings in the Kot area, the MLA said that he has requested the Commissioner to grant permission to house owners in the Kot area whose buildings have reached a dilapidated state to either repair or reconstruct such buildings.

Drainage Work Was Underway When Building Collapsed
An incident occurred in Ahmedabad’s Navtad Pol where an old and dilapidated building suddenly collapsed. At the time when this building fell, the Corporation was carrying out drainage line work there. It is believed that the building crumbled like a house of cards due to vibrations caused during the drainage work. In this tragedy, three people, including an elderly woman and a laborer, were trapped under the rubble. As soon as information about the incident was received, the Fire Department team immediately reached the location and after tremendous effort, attempted to rescue the trapped people by pulling them out. However, the elderly woman could not be saved.
Authorities Rushed to Scene After Incident
According to information, a flurry of activity erupted among authorities as soon as the building collapsed. Fire brigade teams, police, and the Municipal Corporation Estate Department team also rushed to the spot on an immediate basis and undertook rescue operations, attempting to save the people trapped in the building.
