As the situation of war between India and Pakistan persists, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, held an important meeting today (May 9). The meeting, chaired by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, was held at the State Emergency Operation Centre. The meeting was attended by the Home Minister of Gujarat Harsh Sanghavi, officers of all the three wings of the army, and the BSF IG and Police Chief Vikas Sahay.
The Chief Minister reviewed the situation in the border districts and discussed the situation and alertness in other districts of the state. The review was held with the District Collectors and SPs of Kutch, Patan, and Banaskantha, in which the Collectors and SPs of other districts of the state also joined through video conference.
Home Minister of Gujarat Harsh Sanghavi informed that a complaint had been registered against 4 people who made anti-national posts on social media on Thursday (May 8) in various districts of Gujarat. It has also been instructed to the police to take action if any such post comes to their notice. The police are keeping an eye on those who are making posts on social media that are instigating or anti-national.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also urged the government to evaluate alternative means of communication, such as hotlines and satellite phones, to ensure connectivity in case of emergency.
In the ongoing serious situation, instructions were also given in the meeting to implement evacuation plans for border villages of the concerned districts, prepare civil defense, identify safe places-safe houses, and ensure adequate supply of water, food, and other resources. It was also instructed that the concerned districts and transporters should store sufficient quantities of these items as a precautionary measure so that the citizens do not face any problem in getting essential commodities including petrol and diesel.
The Health Department and the Transport Department were also instructed to be prepared with necessary arrangements and manpower in order to face any critical situation. On the other hand, the district heads were given instructions to identify sensitive areas and review the arrangements needed for mobilization and warning.
Meanwhile, citizens were also appealed to stay away for fake information and rumors. It was also suggested to launch a public awareness campaign to prevent false fear or panic from spreading among the people and to prevent people from being misled by rumors. In addition, people were also appealed to pay attention to official information, news, and instructions provided on the official social media platforms of the various government departments. It was made clear that if any information is received about any suspicious activities, objects, or persons, especially in border areas or villages, the system should be on alert mode and immediate action should be taken.
