Ahmedabad: In a dramatic political development, Gujarat’s government is set for a major cabinet reshuffle. All ministers, except Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, have submitted their resignations as the state prepares for the formation of a new council of ministers.
According to reports, the process began when BJP state president Jagdish Vishwakarma resigned first, followed by all other ministers submitting their resignations one after another. Their resignations were handed over to Vishwakarma, who had instructed all ministers to do so. In total, 16 ministers, including Jagdish Vishwakarma, have stepped down.
Interestingly, sources suggest that the Chief Minister had not personally asked for these resignations. Before the formal cabinet meeting began, pre-drafted resignation letters were reportedly kept ready, requiring only the ministers’ signatures. These resignations will now be sent to the Governor, along with a formal letter from the Chief Minister.
BJP May Reapply ‘No-Repeat’ Formula
Political observers note that the BJP might once again apply its 2021 ‘no-repeat’ formula, meaning most of the current ministers may not return to the new cabinet. The move is seen as part of the party’s plan to bring in fresh faces and restructure leadership ahead of key political developments.
New Cabinet Oath Ceremony Announced
The Governor has officially announced that the swearing-in ceremony for the new cabinet will take place on Friday, October 17, at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. Immediately after the ceremony, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will chair the first meeting of the newly formed cabinet. This marks one of the most significant political transitions in Gujarat’s recent history, drawing nationwide attention.
Decision Taken During Afternoon Meeting
Sources confirm that a cabinet meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s residence earlier in the day, during which all ministers collectively decided to tender their resignations. With the decision now finalized, all eyes are on the announcement of the new cabinet lineup.
Speculation Over Deputy CM Post
Meanwhile, speculation is rife about the possible appointment of a Deputy Chief Minister in the new government. Political circles are closely watching the BJP’s next move and leadership decisions as part of this major reshuffle.
