Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway Traffic Alert: 3-Month Delays Likely As NHAI Begins Resurfacing Work

Ahmedabad: Commuters utilizing the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway should prepare for extended travel times over the coming months. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has commenced critical repair operations on a 39-km stretch of the highway connecting Vadodara and Ahmedabad.

Following the recent monsoon season, numerous motorists reported potholes and rough surface conditions along the route. A subsequent survey conducted by the NHAI confirmed that the road quality was not up to standard. As a result, resurfacing work has been initiated on specific patches requiring immediate attention.

Traffic is expected to move slowly while repairs continue through April. With approximately 25,000 vehicles using this expressway daily, officials estimate that the travel time between Vadodara and Ahmedabad may now take about two hours. Authorities have advised drivers to schedule their departures at least 30 minutes earlier to account for the slower pace.

The restoration project is being executed using heavy machinery and a workforce of around 40 to 50 personnel. To ensure traffic remains operational during the maintenance period, the NHAI is conducting repairs one lane at a time.
