Ahmedabad – Disturbing new details have emerged in the tragic killing of a Class 10 student outside Seventh Day Adventist School in Khokhra, Ahmedabad, as WhatsApp messages from the accused, a 16-year-old Class 8 student, have come to light. According to police sources the messages, exchanged with a friend before and after the August 19 incident, shed light on the minor’s mindset.
The accused allegedly stabbed the older student following a scuffle, which stemmed from a prior altercation. In the chats, the teenager reportedly bragged, “Who are you, what can you do?” before confessing to the stabbing. The conversation also revealed that the friend advised the accused to stay hidden for a few days after the attack. Investigators told that these exchanges highlight the accused’s lack of remorse and point to a troubling state of mind at the time of the crime.
The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with protests escalating into violence. On August 20, a mob of over 2,000 people, including parents and members of the Sindhi community, stormed the school, vandalizing property and assaulting staff. The police intervened with a lathi-charge to control the situation.
The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has taken over the investigation, with two minors detained in connection with the case. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to piece together the events and identify all involved. The school’s management faces scrutiny for alleged negligence, with claims that they attempted to clean up evidence by calling a water tanker.
The case, now under the Juvenile Justice Act, has raised questions about school safety and the handling of the incident by both the school and local police. The investigation continues as the community demands justice for the slain student.
