Ahmedabad : A massive fire broke out in a house in Krishnanagar Row House near Bakeri City in Vejalpur area of Ahmedabad city at midnight, killing five people present in the house, while three others managed to escape unharmed. The fire broke out at around 3:30 am while the Gohil family members were fast asleep, prompting three people to leave, but the father and 9-year-old son were burnt to death in the house.
Mitalben, the wife of the deceased Dhruvbhai Gohil, said that her husband and my nine-year-old son Shashwat and I were sleeping in one room and my mother-in-law and my daughter Dhumi were sleeping in the room next to us. After that, around 3:30 in the night, I suddenly started wheezing and had difficulty breathing, due to which I woke up. I tried to wake up my husband (Dhruvbhai), but he did not come to his senses and due to the darkness of the night, nothing could be seen.
Mitalben further said that due to suffocation due to the excessive smoke, her husband was dragged from our room and taken to her mother-in-law’s room, but due to the excessive smoke, her son Shashwat could not be seen and due to excessive suffocation, he kept going outside to the gallery. Her mother-in-law and daughter were present. After that, the three of us came down from our balcony to our neighbor’s house and went down to the society. It was found that a fire had broken out in the hall below their house for some unknown reason, so someone present there called the fire brigade and 108.
According to the information received from the fire brigade, a fire broke out in a house in Krishnanagari Row House on Makarba Road in Vejalpur area around 3:30 am. The fire brigade team was informed by the locals and more than two vehicles reached the spot. There was fire both upstairs and downstairs. The entire family was sleeping in the house, however, an old man and the woman of the house had come out when the fire broke out.
Dhruv Gohil and his 9-year-old son Shashwat were trapped in the house, who were taken out in an unconscious condition and shifted for treatment, where they were declared dead. According to the fire brigade, it has been found that the fire started due to a short circuit. The police also reached the spot after being informed by the Vejalpur police.
