Anniversary Celebration Turns Into Police Raid In Ahmedabad, Over 80 Detained, Luxury Goods Worth Rs 2.91 Crore Seized

Ahmedabad : As many as 81 people were detained in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad on Wednesday after police busted an illegal foreign liquor party in the dry state, which was organised by a man on the occasion of his brother-in-law’s 25th wedding anniversary. The party was thrown by Mumbai resident Amit Pacheriwal, 49, to celebrate his brother-in-law Adarsh’s silver jubilee anniversary. It took place at the Nirvana Green Farmhouse without a permit. The value of all the seized goods has been estimated at around Rs 2.91 crore.

Alcohol was being consumed at the Nirvana Green Farmhouse last night. It was Adarsh’s 25th wedding anniversary, and Amit and Adarsh had organised a drinking party. The farmhouse belongs to Ravi, a pharmaceutical businessman. An investigation is underway to determine whether Ravi knew about the alcohol party. Adarsh deals in interiors and furniture. Amit is a textile businessman, who played a key role in organising the party.

Police found a total of seven opened bottles of foreign liquor, three empty ones and eight sealed bottles worth Rs 43,550. Besides, 70 glasses, 10 rubber pipe hookahs, 8 types of hookah flavours, 33 hookah flavoured plastic boxes, and 74 mobile phones worth Rs 26,30,000 were seized. Samples have been collected from all 81 people. If the FSL reports on the blood samples indicate drug use, action will be taken under the NDPS Act, SP Jat said.

Police also recalled a similar crackdown six months earlier at the Glade Golf Resort in Sanand during the birthday celebration of a prominent real estate businessman Pratik Sanghvi. In that raid, action was taken against 39 guests. Thirteen men were arrested, while 26 women were served notices.
