Passenger With 1.107 kg Hydroponic Weed Caught At Ahmedabad Airport

Ahmedabad: After a suspicious activity during hand baggage screening at Ahmedabad Airport Custom officers intercepted a male Indian National. The passenger arrived at 22:55 hours on VietJet Airlines Flight VZ-750 from Bangkok.
The customs official said,” Upon detailed examination of his hand baggage, four vacuum-sealed packets containing a greenish substance were recovered. The substance tested positive for hydroponic weed (marijuana), weighing 1.107 kg.”
Under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985 the passenger has been taken into custody and the contraband has been seized.
“Further investigation is in progress,” the official added.
A similar case was seen just a month ago at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru wherein customs officials seized 18.6 kgs of hydroponic cannabis which valued around Rs. 6.5 crore.
The contraband was intercepted in two different cases which involved passengers from Bangkok. Acting on the suspicion, the custom officials did a thorough check and after being caught were arrested and cases were registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotrophic Substances (NDPS) Act.
