
Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad continues to grapple with a fresh wave of COVID-19 infections. On Wednesday, June 4, the city reported the third death linked to the virus during this new surge, bringing the total fatalities in Ahmedabad to three, all of whom were women.
The victim was a 20-year-old woman from the Sardar Patel Stadium ward in the city’s western zone. She had tested positive for COVID-19 and succumbed while undergoing treatment. On the same day, Ahmedabad registered 71 new COVID-19 cases, while 30 patients were discharged after recovery.
Rising Cases Across Gujarat
COVID-19 cases are steadily climbing across Gujarat. On June 3, the state reported 108 new infections, bringing the number of active cases to 461. Among them, 20 patients are currently hospitalized, while 441 are recovering under home isolation. So far, 43 patients have been discharged. The state also recorded one death due to the virus on that day.

Rajkot Sees Omicron Subvariants
In Rajkot, health officials confirmed that the reported COVID-19 cases are linked to Omicron subvariants LF.7.9 and XFG Recombinant. With today’s additions, the total number of confirmed infections in the city has reached 61. Encouragingly, six patients completed home isolation today and have fully recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries in Rajkot to 18. Currently, 43 patients remain under home care.
Health Officials Urge Caution
Municipal health authorities emphasize that the current COVID-19 situation is not alarming but caution that complacency could lead to serious consequences. In Surat, only 30 cases have been reported so far, and all patients are reportedly in stable condition. Nonetheless, those who test positive are being urged to isolate at home to prevent the spread of the virus within families.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and advise citizens to stay vigilant, practice hygiene, and follow public health guidelines to curb the spread of the virus.
